Detox Water

Print Friendly and PDF

Booze free January continues full throttle.  But really, who needs wine and beer when you can have...Detox Water!

Or whatever.

On Sunday I was over at my parents' house and my mom was making this Detox Water, so I joined in on the fun.  It's really slice up a bunch of fruit and cucumber, throw in some mint, and top it up with water.  The water is meant to aid in digestion, cut fat, help in the absorption of nutrients, suppress appetite (naturally and healthily!), and alkalize the body.   Sounds good to me!  I've been drinking it in the morning before work for a refreshing start to the day.  This is a great way to get 3 of your 8 required glasses of water per day out of the way.

The other bonus is that I found another use for my mason jars following my disastrous attempt at making pickled beans!  Things happen for a reason?

Detox Water

What You Will Need:
  • 4 x 24 ounce mason jars or bottles
  • 1 cucumber, sliced
  • 1 lemon, sliced
  • 1 orange or grapefruit, sliced (warning: the grapefruit will makes the water more sour)
  • 1 lime, sliced
  • 1 bunch of mint, stems removed
  • water
Evenly divide the ingredients into the four jars, and refrigerate for 12 hours or more.  When you are ready to drink, strain the water into a glass, and enjoy!  You can re-use the fruit and vegetables at least once more by just replacing the water that you drank and refrigerating again.

My beautiful mom.  :)

This makes my mouth water!
